We had to create a blog about a topic of our choice. Mine was aobut meme's and more... This project was ver fun to do because we got to comment on other peoples blog and put up content onto our blog that we like. I learned how to embed videos and other things into my blog.

This was the choose your own adventure assignment. We had to make a game in flash where you could choose your own path. There had to be at least 4 outcomes and 2 object that had to be picked up to continue. This was by FAR! my most favourite assignment because it was very fun to make. I learned how to code a object so that once clicked it would disappear and would allow another object to work.

This assignment was a good lead up to the choose your own advcnture because it taught us how to use buttons. This assignmnet was okay but i didn't like writing the descriptions of the areas of the hotel.

This booklet taught us a lot, without it other projects would have been much harder to complete. I learned how to do motion tweens, shape tweens, and much more. I enjoyed the book because it made other projects easier to do and the assignments were fun to make.

Business Report- Telus

Telus

Telus is a Canadian founded company that proiveds costumers with a service plan for there mobile phone. There are a variety of services that they provide like internet, texting, talking and tv shows. Telus’s revenue in the fourth quarter this year was 2.33 Billion CAD. This has this is “thanks to nine per cent growth in wireless and seven per cent growth in wireline data, partly offset by ongoing declines in the local and long-distance wireline business.” Telus’s Profit increased 3.4 percent from last years fourth quarter which was 2.25 billion CAD. Telus said that increased 66 percent from last fourth quarter to 400.1 million. One reason for this huge increase is the federal tax reduction. Despite this increase in profit and revenues Telus is still lagging behind its rivals. In their 2007 fourth quarter they only added 161,400 new subscribers this is down 11 percent from last years fourth quarter. Post paid additions also dropped by 18 percent. In total thought Telus earned 1.25 billion in 2007.



The Federal tax cut affected Telus’s revenue and profit greatly. In the fourth quarter they had a 18 million dollar net tax benefit compared with a 91.6 million dollar tax liability. Over the full year of 2007 the total revenue increased by 4.5 percent to 9.07 billion dollars compared to 2006 ,which had 8.68 billion dollars.
1.25 billion or 3.76 dollars per share was 2007s profit which increased from 2006’s 1.15 billion dollars or 3.30 dollars per share.
Telus’s income tax bill declined by 34 percent, going from 353.2 million dollars to 233.6 million dollars.
The maturing Canadian market is hurting Telus’s profits. Most people already have cell phones so now cell phone companies have to try and get people who’s contract have expired to sign a contract with them. This is difficult because many people sign 3 year contracts. Therefore if half the cell phone market signed three year plans with another service then a cell phone company, such as Telus would have to wait 3 years until they could try and get that person to sign a contract with them. This is even harder because some people to family plans, where more than one cell phone gets put on a plan. Telus only added 161,400 new customers in 2007’s fourth quarter which is down 11 percent from last years fourth quarter. This isn’t only affecting Telus is affecting other companies aswell.

In this assignment we had to create a report about a Canadian business and talk about. We had three different options. The option that i did was a 400 word report consisting of:
-An introductory paragraph of the company and its current state
-2 paragraphs talking about 2 different factors that are affecting the company
-A collection of properly captioned images detailing the problems that the company is currently facing
-A timeline detailing the history of the company
-A editorial cartoon made by you that presents the situation of the company in a direct
and hopefully humorous way

This project was very informative because it showed us all the different factors that affect a company. I didn't like writing the report but making the timeline and everything else was fine.

Mutal Fund Assignment!

This is our mutual fund assignment. We had to create a mutual fund with 4 others. The members of my mutual include me of course, Connor, Iain, and our worst member Jeff. We used the site http://www.vse.marketwatch.com/ which is a site that follows the real stock market. You invest in stocks with fake money and see your results. Every Mutual Fund had 1 million dollars to spend. We had to divide the money equally and each spend it in different sectors of the stock market. I invested in technology, Jeff invested in manufacturing, Iain invested in raw materials and Connor invested in banking.

This is our logo that i created. The cup is my cup at home that i purchased at price chopper! Our Mutual Funds name is Conseinjiner And Raine co.iner.

This was the result of our whole mutual fund in total after one month. So Jeff's results, my results, Connors results and Iain's results. The blue line is our mutual funds results, the yellow line is the NASDAQ and the pink line is the DOW. For the most part we followed the NASDAQ and the DOW. We started positive and dropped down into the negatives, but in the last couple days we pulled through and got back positive.

This graph shows how well the technology stocks i invested in did. I started well, then i plummeted, after a few days i rocketed back up. But fell back down, I stayed down for a while and got back up in the last few days. I pretty much followed the NASDAQ and DOW except for the part when i got up into 7% profit.

These were my prediction for my technology stocks in the next month.They were wrong i had a much bigger increase and as of today i have a 27.95% increase.

I enjoyed this project, it was very fun to invest in stocks and see how you did. I learned a lot form this assignment, like how the stock market is very up and down and investing is risky business.

Peripheral Assignment

The Speaker: The First Patent for a speaker was in 1877 by Ernst Siemens. Later thought in 1924 two researchers patented the newer version on the speaker witch included a moving coil and direct radiator. In 1926 these were sold to the consumers and called “Radiola”.
A speaker basically converts the electrical signal into physical vibrations. Sound waves are created by the rapidly vibrating the diaphragm which is basically a cone attached to the speaker. The diaphragm is attached to the voice coil. There are magnets by the poles of the voice coil and when music is played it goes through the amplifier which outputs either positive or negative electrical charges of different size and frequency’s in a pattern. Theses flow to the voice coil which then depending on what charge it attracted to one of the magnetic poles. This happens extremely fast so the diaphragm is moving back and forth creating sound. There are different types of drivers in speakers. Some basic ones are woofers, tweeters and midrange. Woofers are designed to produce low frequency sounds while tweeters produce higher frequencies and midranges in the middle.


Microphone: The First microphone, called a carbon microphone was invented by David Edward Hughes in 1878. This was actually made for Alexander Graham Bells telephone. Microphones were not sold by themselves at first they came with telephones and telephones were available to the public in the late eighteen hundreds.A microphone basically operates in the same way, when you speak into it your sound waves vibrate the diaphragm which vibrates the magnet inside the coil at the same frequency and your voice. The magnet moving creates and electrical current which travels to its output source such as a speaker which will play your voice exactly as it was recorded. The microphone is basically the opposite of a speaker

In this assignment we had to research a external computer add on. How it works and its background information. We also had to draw a diagram and create a chart of places in which you could purchase the product and information about it.I did mine on the microphone and the speaker. I didn't like this project very much because i didn't feel it wasn't very fun. On the other hand it was very informative and i learned alot about Telus and other statistics that companies use to determine their profits. Drawing the speaker and the microphone was my favourite part of this project.

In this assignment we had to make a buissness card. It was good because we learned what content would be needed on a buissness card. I liked this assignment because it was quick but we still learned alot.

Hello, I purchased your Pokémon Pokédex and it does not display all of the Pokémon that I own. I also have problem where my Pokédex will not register my Bulbesaur as a Pokémon. It does not do this with my other Pokémon, such as my Jigglypuff. I have been a loyal customer and have always endorsed and support your product.

I bought this product two weeks ago and it said that it came with a 3-year warranty. But when phoned your customer service hotline they said that this was not covered by the warranty. I hope that you could replace my Pokédex.

In this assignment we had to create a complaint letter to a company aobut a product or service. We had to have proper format and fold it properly to fit the letter.
I made a letter to hasbro about my pokedex. I learned the proper format of a formal letter and that your letter should not be to long and be to the point or else i would not be read. I also learned that folding the letter properly is very important. I thought this assignment was useful, it thaguth us alot. Some day we will probally have to right a complaint letter so its useful to know.
